A ROSE BY ANY OTHER NAME
Interview by Dani Tauber
It's not every day I get to interview a superheroine; I
mean, she sings, she designs, she models, and she acts. She
even knows how to operate movie set equipment. Is there
anything that Emma Rose Evans, a budding California
socialite, can't do?
Well, I suppose we'll start with a neutral stereotypical
opening question: WHO IS EMMA ROSE EVANS? Tell us who you
are, what you do, and where you do it. Anything you think we
should know about you.
Hi, I'm Emma Rose Evans. I'm an actress, I do some modeling,
I design things as well as have interests in photography!
Basically everything art related. I love expressing myself
in creative ways and I love getting feedback so I can
improve on what I do!
Tell us about your ongoing charity work with the
Invisible Children foundation; what do they stand for, and
what can other people do to help?
I'm not involved with Invisible Children directly, but I
would love to be. I do however fully support the charity and
love what they are doing. Invisible Children is a charity
that is trying to get the word out about the children of
Uganda, Africa. Children are being forced to go to war
against their will to fight. The best ways that you can help
are by donating, spreading the word about IC buy telling
others, showing your friends the film or wearing their
merchandise so hopefully someone will go "What's
Invisible Children?" and you can explain it to them.
Either way Invisible Children is definitely a large part of
my life. I recently went to "The Rescue" which was
an event where thousands of people all over the world tried
to get the media's attention on what's happening in Uganda.
Where can we see some of your web designing?
You can see some of my web and graphic design at my official
site EmmaRoseEvans.com
at www.emmaroseevans.com,
which is currently only showing a few samples but more will
be up soon!
How did you get into modeling, and what are you usually
showcasing when you do work?
I got into modeling back in 2001 it started with me shooting
for some acting headshots. I began to do small runway shows
and portfolio work for photographers. In 2004 and 2005 I had
my first magazine spread and an advertisement out. After
that I really wanted to get back into acting which is my
real passion but I started modeling in my free time in 2007
again and during that year I had so many shoots for clothing
lines, designers, etc. It's been a lot of fun, I love
cameras whether I'm in front of them or behind, not too fond
of people though, I'm actually shy.
Speaking of acting, why don't you tell us about some of
the projects you're working on, as well as some of the
things you've done in the past?
I currently have two feature films that are finished and
going through post production. One called Zombies Ate My
Prom Date and the other called One In Seven Million. My
third one is still being filmed called Miar Vociche, I also
just signed onto a film called Bloody Halls which hasn't
started filming quite yet. This month (May 2009) I start
filming a new web series and a short film. I have a few
student and short films online that are already available
for viewing you can get the links at my official site www.emmaroseevans.com
Acting is my main thing so I put all my effort into this. I
really enjoy it.
Tell us what it's typically like on the set of a movie or
film. How are the accommodations, usually?
Being on a movie set is a lot of fun but there's a lot of
just standing around and being bored because they have a lot
of work to do, and sometimes, it doesn't involve you. You
can either just sit around or you can help out. On the set
of my first movie I actually got to operate camera B during
a scene that I wasn't in. It really depends on the movie’s
budget more than anything else. Sometimes you don't get
anything, no food etc. Which sucks but if it's actually a
movie with a budget you get food, makeup and hair (which is
fun I love having my hair and makeup done), wardrobe, etc.
What sort of movies do you aspire to be in? Rather, who
would you like to be in movies with?
Right now I would love to play the lead in a romantic
comedy. The cute girl who falls in love with the cute guy.
That'd be a lot of fun to be apart of. I'd love to be in a
movie with Hilary Duff, she's a really good role model and I
love the movies she's picking for her career lately, I
cannot wait for "Greta" you have no idea.
You've mentioned wanting to get into music at some point
in many of our conversations; how would you like to go about
this? Are you a pop princess or a metal mama?
Ah, music. Music is a REALLY large part of my life, I am
constantly, CONSTANTLY listening to music and being inspired
by it. I started to learn the guitar at age six but quit
because "it hurt my fingers" after a few years I
tried again and again and again. I've taken so many classes
but guitar just won't click for me. I haven't given up and
I'm still trying. If I ever finish learning I hope to take
some voice lessons because Lord knows I can't sing very
well. My mom says "I can carry a tune, but I'm not
'American Idol' material." She's obsessed with that
show for some reason. I know my levels in singing and they
aren't as glorious as I wish they were but I'd love to do
some soft acoustic numbers to start if I ever did. More of a
hobby just because I need more of them in my life. As for
what music I listen to I could describe myself in just three
words but I'd rather not. I'll just say I listen to a bit of
everything and a lot of ONE thing.
Okay now, if you could suggest 3 books to absolutely
ANYONEEE, what would they be, and why?
I would have to recommend Late Bloomer by Fern Michaels, One
of Those Hideous Books Where the Mother Dies is truly my one
and only favourite book, its by Sonya Sones and lastly A
Knight In Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux all have been my
favourite at some point in my life. Amazing books and
amazing authors.
And last but not least, what do you see in store for your
future?
As for future I'd really love to do everything whether it be
traveling the entire world to starring in every movie genre
on the planet. I'm not sure what will actually happen but a
girl can dream right?
Emma also has a clothing line called I'm A Jerk Industries www.imajerkindustries.com
launching on June 5, 2009.
